1) Words of Affirmation
ie. words of encouragement, praise
2) Quality Time
ie having quality conversations, building quality relationships
3) Gift Giving
4) Acts of Service
ie doing something for the other person
5) Physical Touch
e.g. hugs
What's our Cell Group's Love Language? Stay tuned! That's coming right after the commercial break! Haha no la just pulling your leg
as the birthday coordinator of the cell group, I took down everybody's love language, easier to make the person feel loved on the day of the bday! So everybody, read on & remember each other's love language!
1) Irene:
It depends on situation, timing. But if she has to choose, she will choose words of affirmation as the primary love language.
2) Fiona:
Primary: Acts of service and Secondary: Quality Time
3) William:
Primary: Words of Affirmation Secondary: Quality Time ie Physical Presence in time of need is important
4) Esther:
Primary: Quality Time & Secondary: Gift Giving. She loves heart to heart talk and deep sharing.
5) Michelle:
Primary: Quality time. she loves having khaki calling her in the middle of the night to ask her to go for a drink or cheong. haha, but don't start calling her in the middle of the night to disturb her :P she also loves buying gifts for others, but she is quite particular about the gifts she receive, so must observe carefully what she likes, dont buy the wrong thing for her! haha
6) Nicole:
Gift giving and words of affirmation
7) Neo:
Words of affirmation and acts of service
8) Robin
Gift Giving and Physical touch. Robin mentioned that he is a person who doesn't really talk much therefore gift giving is a sure way to show you care. And between guys, physical touch like a pat on the back means alot to him
9) Jimmy: Quality time and words of affirmation. He loves sharing a good cuppa with friends and chatting and catching up with them
10) Sharon:
words of affirmation from people she trusts, gift receiving - she loves surprises that she can't sniff out and it's truly a surprise.
11) Jane
Acts of service, gift giving
12) Sue
Quality time and physical touch (I love hugs!)
13) Priscilla
it depends on situation also, but Quality time and physical presence - listening and just being there is important
Some ideas to show the Five Love Languages:
1) Words of Affirmation
Praise people: when you notice something special about that person, be it dressing, or new hairstyle, a job well done, etc
write letters/notes/cards for people
sms : even a short sms of appreciation means alot
through blogging
Irene mentioned her experience with her children. when the kids quarrel, she will make them stand in front of each other and say ten things they love about each other. this, I thought, was quite a refreshing way of "disciplining" your kids. Make them think of the good things instead of the negative. And she said that whatever God has blessed you with ie. speech, you can use it to bless others. How true!
Quality Time
- Sacrifice of time, even though it's inconvenient, you still make the effort to spend time with the person and just being there in the moment of crisis
- accept the person as they are through fellowshipping with them
Gift Giving
- it's more blessed to give than to receive!
- personalizing a gift - handmade
- Through observation, you can notice what the other person needs or requires, you can get it for the person
- Spring surprises for the person
Acts of Service
- Visit old folks' home
- irene mentioned that when she visits her friends, her friends help her in many ways like carrying the bag, baby sitting or taking care of her kids while she eat, this, to her, is an act of service
Physical Touch
- it's a matter of developing the habit of showing physical affection thru hugs. but for some people this might be uncomfortable. So gotta see who you get close to and get into their personal space.

Everyone has their share of their problems, and every individual will have their own capacity, each of us will have our own thresholds.
Today had been a horrible plus terrible day for me. Obstacles and disappointments keep coming in my way. Many things that I have been looking forward came as disappointments, many obstacles for work hinders me from moving on, problems in life make me stay at that very moment and people around me suddenly became very scary. That’s how I felt at the very hour I started work.
How did every single negative thing had such wonderful team work and came together to me at one go? It was a big blow! I meet obstacles, face problems, felt disappointments and scary people appear now and then but I never had EVERYTHING at one go.
I cried out to God! I realized that I may have relied on Him for strength but there are things which I depended on myself, which is such a wrong move. I prayed and shouted for help to Him in my office cubicle.
Thank God for Mich! Unexpectedly, we were msging each other this morning and she knew how upset I was, and she said, dun get yourself burn out and read Ecclesiastes 3. Although I felt much better after seeking for help at that moment, Ecclesiastes 3 kept coming to me. And thank God for Robin who reminded me of my inconsistency in prayer and relying on Him.
Ecclesiastes 3:1
“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven”.
God has a plan for every single one of us out here in this world that can simply scares me off. Although we may face problems that seems to contradict God’s plan or simply put us down in a terrible time, there should not be any barriers to believing in him but rather all these should become opportunities to discover that, without God, life’s problems have no lasting solutions!
The secret to peace with God is to discover, accept and appreciate God’s perfect timing. The danger to doubt or resent God’s timing can lead to despair, rebellion, or moving ahead with His advice. (Isn’t that the way I almost led myself to this morning!!!)
All of us are working adults. We definitely face problems in our work and in our personal life. But in one week, we spend a lot of time in the office, therefore we can’t deny that if we were to shine in the market place, working have to be one of the options besides praying and seeking God.
But we can definitely enjoy our work by:
a) remembering that God has given us work to do
b) realize that the fruit of labour is a gift from Him
c) see your work as a way to serve God
Remember God wants us to enjoy life. When we have the proper view of God, we discover that real pleasure is found in enjoying whatever we have as gifts from God and not in what we accumulate.
Guessed I have shared too much today to the point where I don’t even know if I managed to link everything into one. Hope I don’t confuse anyone. Hee!
But one thing for sure, I will lift up everything to HIM and rely on HIM.

Yeah Fiona it's one of those days. I totally understand. But it's those times that make us wanna run to God and cry out to Him. He is unchanging and He will never leave or forsake us in time of trouble.
"He is glorified in our weaknesses, because in our time of weakness, He will make us strong."
All praise to be to Him!

FELLOWSHIP
RE: J's post
Hey if u guys r planning an extended fellowship, do clue me in. Sometimes I'm quite blur and absent minded, you may have talked among urselves, i did hear the word "bowling" when we were leaving the bldg, but I thought in the end everyone was going home. Glad u guys had fun. But do nudge me, if I have the energy, sure will join u guys one.
OUTINGS
Hey guys, I was also thinking of organizing a few activities for cell:
1) more wakeboarding sessions
Sharon and I just went for wake boarding today it was fun. It looked easy but it was not! haha If you're interested, can consider coming for the next one. Dunno if there's any more space, but can ask Sharon. If all in all there's quite good response to wakeboard, we can go to my hse in Sebana (in JB) there's a nice river there to wakeboard and can rent boats and all there. And can spend overnight there. for a weekend also perhaps? There's a swimming pool there you can use, can bbq, can have extended late night fellowships, etc. Sounds fun?
2) Horse riding
I don't know about you but I have been wanting to try out horse riding. I did try in NZ, but it was just those where the guide will pull the horse around a track and that's it. The horse, I remember, even crapped in the middle of the session! it was really funny! Anyhow, there's a package of $50 for horseriding if we go in a grp, near eng neo exit there's a horse range, if that's what u call it.
3) trekking @ Macritchie reservoir/Bkt Timah Hill
Any ppl who need a workout, see nature and hear the birds chirping again shld go for this! Any interest? I can hear Michelle groaning already. haha
**4) Forbidden City
> Fiona really wants to go this coming Wed. Pls let me know ASAP if u wanna go too!!! about $100 per ticket.
I think that's it for now!
Let me know what u think of the above!
PS. I've invited u guys to the blog to sign in as members so if you own an acct on blogger you can just directly post when u log in to your own acct!
cheers

I love the horse-riding idea, always wanted to give that a try.
Shall we??? ;D
Count me in for the next wakeboarding session! wanna try my hand at it too.. haaaa....
A few other suggestions off my head, is anyone keen to try gun-shooting? I actually had that penned down on my Goals-setting card on the column under recreation, like 3 yrs back! Imagine that! Haaa...
Or how abt going for a makan session across the crossway? heard so much abt the cheap and gd food and shopping in JB, but NOT experienced it myself.. am I a mountain tortoise or what?? ;p
correction, we have 3 cars..william, michelle and my car =D so we can take up the JB idea.
Gun shooting sounds like a great idea as well!!! Let's discuss more during cell grp meeting on Thurs.
I promise. So Gun Shooting is on! When??
